(Describe a historical period)

Describe a historical period that you are interested in

You should say:

What the historical period is

How you know it

What happened during that period

Why you find it interesting

(Describe a historical period)

Speaking of a period of history that I fond of,I would like to talk something about the Middle age. Life in the Middle Ages was completely different than we see it today. Some reflections of life of that period are found in cinemas but most of them are unrealistic. They are filled with fantasies. The real life in the Middle Ages was filled with classifications and the feudal system dominated the entire society. And most importantly, people were superstitious to a great extent. This is a very smart candidate task card and I am happy to have it in my share.

In some terms, living in the Middle Ages was beneficial. Life was not so much complicated as it is found today. People used to live near nature. And there were fewer traffic congestions in the streets. Though the streets remained crowded round the day, there were no troubles among the pedestrians and people used to live in their own way. Minding the own business was the key task. The other important benefit was that they did not think so much about the career or about the other silly issues that matter most in the present day.

But there were some drawbacks as well. The classification was the most important obstacle of this age. People were classified into various groups and the noblemen used to dominate the poorer section of the society. The scope of entertainment was limited and the lower parts of the society had no or little access to such activities. The daily life in this age was the subject of wealth and power.

I would like to have lived in that period of time. In fact, a fascination works in me about that age. I have seen numerous events in movies and got addicted to the age. So, I want to travel in the streets with a dimmed lantern with me and enjoy the views around.

Life began even before history was recorded. Human civilization has changed during the course of time and experienced different ages. This cue card question asks to describe how life was in particular period of history and here are some other hints to start the answer.

1. Life in the Stone Age was tough for humans. They did not have modern tools to live on. Hunting was the key profession of people. They used stones to hunt animals to be served as foods. The age is also divided into several periods and it is thought that socialization began at this age.

2. The invention of mathematics was the best achievement in Bronze Age. The Age is named so due to the rise of bronze tools. People of this age started using bronze-made tools in their everyday life. This is a major age in human history.

3. Application of iron-made materials began in the Iron Age. This is an important age in the expansion of human history. People in this age started using iron massively as this metal was far durable than the other types of tools and instruments in their life. Most of the technological advancement took place in this age.

4. The civilization of ancient Egypt plays an important role in human history. The duration of this civilization was between 3000 to 300 BCE beside the Nile. The age is remarkable for the technological, military, cultural and religious advancement. Pharaohs controlled the states and now we have their relics in pyramids.

5. A large part of the world was under the domination of Roman empire during the 1st century. Christianity appeared in this century and it gave birth to many other political and religious events. Expansion of literature was a remarkable achievement in this age.

6. The 15th century is considered a bridge among the renaissance, middle age and early modern period. Fall of empires, mapping of the world, development of renaissance etc. are the key achievement of this century.

7. At present we are in the 21st century- also known as the modern age. We are having all the modern benefits. Technological, medical and religious advancements are the key features. Living has become comfortable and easy communication has removed distances. The world has become a global village.

雅思口語(yǔ)話題part2高分范文之:禮貌的場(chǎng)合(a situation you have to be polite)

Ok, well I would actually like to start by saying that I try to be polite in all situations, because that was basically how I was brought up, but if I was to choose a particular occasion when I had to be polite, then I’ll talk about the time I went to a friend’s house for their birthday party.

And as for when it was, well I suppose it must have been about three or four months ago, and basically what happened was that a friend of mine invited me, along with a few other of his friends, to his house for dinner to celebrate his birthday with him. And when we got there, we were given a nice welcome by his parents, who then offered us some drinks and took us through to the living room to wait for a bit while they finished preparing the dinner. Anyway, it was worth the wait, because the dinner was fantastic, and by the end of it, I was absolutely stuffed!

So regarding why I had to be polite, well, I think it goes without saying that whenever you go to someone else’s house, you should always be polite, you know, it’s common sense, because I mean, if someone’s kind enough to invite you to their home and treat you to food and drink, the least you can do is be polite and well-mannered, and if you’re not, then chances are that you won’t get invited back!

You know, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all experienced times when someone hasn’t behaved very well when they’ve been a guest at our home, and usually when that happens, the first thing we say to each other when that person’s left is, “there’s no way they’re ever coming back!”. Of course for young children it’s different, but for adults there’s no excuse at all. And if you do make the effort to be polite, then it makes a big difference, because then you’ll leave a very good impression and consequently be welcome as a guest again in the future.

So yeah, I guess that’s pretty much all there is to say, so thanks for listening.

雅思口語(yǔ)part2話題參考范文:校外技能(an important skill cannot be learned at school)

Describe an important skill which cannot be learned at school

You should say:

What the skill is

Why it cannot be learned at school

Why it is important

How we learned it

One of the most valuable skills imparted to me when I was young was acting. At the time, I had no idea how vital it would become. My parents thought that such classes were foolish. At school, drama had a low status compared to subjects such as math or science. I did enjoy it, but not once did I think it could ever be beneficial. I never imagined how useful it might be later on in life. How could reciting poetry, singing, dancing and traditional stories help in the modern world? Well, I know how to use my voice, how to vary it, how to project it and how to hold people's attention with it. I know how to move with surety and how to command a presence. Learning lines and lyrics aided my memory for words and phrases in new languages. I can read aloud with confidence. I take care over my appearance and am aware of the impression I make on people. I think that all together, these are skills which will serve me well when I enter the world of business, which is what I hope to do. In the commercial environment, you need to appear trustworthy and competent if you are to represent your company well. You only have a few seconds to make the right impression and I will always be thankful to my theatre teacher for enabling me to do this!

雅思口語(yǔ)話題part2范文:花銷不大的一天(a special day that you went out)

You should say:

1-4月雅思口語(yǔ)part2范文:花銷不大的一天(you went out but didn't spend much money)

When it comes to a special day out that didn’t cost too much, well, I would like to talk about a trip I had to the Huashan Mountain, which is located in the Hua County, somewhere in the east of Xi’an.

I remember it was a summer day before my first semester of college in Xi’an that I went there for the first time. A military officer who once worked with my father in the army invited our family to have a one-day trip to this world-renowned scenic spot. We got up extremely early in the morning like 5 pm and drove to the foot of the mountain and began climbing. The mountain wasn’t like the traditional single peak one, it’s actually kind of a combination of many. We climbed all four summits at one go. That’s was probably the most energy-consuming activity during that whole year, but it’s definitely worth it!

Although we were fully prepared for this trip, it seemed none of us felt so confident about every detail of small scenic spots, because there’s quite a lot for you to discover along the way, and we didn’t find any single chance of being bored. When we reached the highest southern summit of the mountain, we felt a kind of sense of achievement.

We all felt this was a really healthy and money-saving trip. Because we just spend no more than 300 RMB for beverages and the entrance tickets during the whole trip. And we got more fitness exercises compared to those who hit the gym with more than 300 RMB membership fees.

Someone said that it’s sometimes dangerous to go to those huge mountains, but I have to say that we only live a life for once, why not try it? Basically, it’s not that risky, right?
