The worst mistake you can make is to fail to find out what drives them, money, status or whatever. And it's important to anticipate this by getting as many colleagues as possible on your side, so that if, in discussions, someone objects to your plans, you, and a number of others, are able to give an immediate response in order to silence your opponent. 15 When I first started running my own business I made some dreadful mistakes in the way I handled staff. The worst thing you can do is stick to one strategy and apply it to every situation. Sometimes you just need to show 'em who's boss. Other times some gentle persuasion is more effective, in my opinion, anyway. I'm sure I was often criticised for my management style, not that I let it bother me, though. 16 I've found if you want to stay in charge of a situation, the worst mistake you can make is not keeping people up to speed with what you're doing at every single stage of the process. Of course, that doesn't mean you need to be seeking universal agreement or approval for your actions and opinions. Some people will always be critical. But at least adopting this approach will encourage an atmosphere in which everyone feels included. 17 There are always going to be things in a company people don't like, and if you've created an atmosphere in which they're encouraged to contribute ideas freely, you have to learn to deal with complaints. Revealing that you are, for example, upset by their comments is a crucial error. You will have shown a weakness in your character that others may try to exploit, and may lead to a general lack of support for you.

解題關(guān)鍵：了解干擾項(xiàng)設(shè)計(jì)原則，快速排出干擾項(xiàng)，縮小選擇范圍
BEC考綱：
譯文：不能僅憑題目選項(xiàng)中單詞在聽(tīng)力原文中出現(xiàn)來(lái)判斷答案，這種原詞的重現(xiàn)往往是起到干擾作用。
分析：可排除(錯(cuò)誤)選項(xiàng)的特點(diǎn)---原詞重現(xiàn)(word match)

Step1 提前掃讀一遍選項(xiàng)，快速反應(yīng)出選項(xiàng)中文意義，如果選項(xiàng)是句子則快速劃出關(guān)鍵詞：

Step2 帶著選項(xiàng)大意和關(guān)鍵詞聽(tīng)第一段錄音

注：BEC聽(tīng)力每段錄音都放兩邊，第一遍主要是抓錄音大意，排除明顯的干擾項(xiàng)。根據(jù)此原則一般能至少排除2~3個(gè)選項(xiàng)，加上已經(jīng)選擇的選項(xiàng)不予考慮，越往后，可排除的選項(xiàng)當(dāng)然越多。
Step4 從5個(gè)選項(xiàng)中選出正確答案，如果無(wú)法直接判斷出正確答案，先記下可能的答案選項(xiàng)，在做完后面的題目后再用排除法來(lái)判斷。
第二遍關(guān)鍵要聽(tīng)出錄音的：Topic話題、Context語(yǔ)境、Function功能(如下考綱截圖)
此題顯然考察的是”話題”. 每段錄音對(duì)應(yīng)一個(gè)strategy ，也就是管理策略(題目說(shuō)明：speaker’s strategy is for success in management.)。聽(tīng)懂第一段音頻的關(guān)鍵就是把握下面的單詞和詞組的同義對(duì)應(yīng):

同義轉(zhuǎn)換：drive sb = motivate sb = motivation = what‘s in it for sb 激勵(lì)、原動(dòng)力、動(dòng)機(jī)
