Computers are now essential in many areas of life modern banking, retail and information exchange among others. However, this is not true for education. At a simple level some subjects may be better taught using computers, but to explain important concepts a human teacher is still indispensable.
Why computers do well, with examples
There are some subjects in which a computer can be used successfully to teach. Elementary mathematics, elementary language leaning, any area which requires a student to memorize basic facts through repetition is well suited to computer learning. The computer can be programmed to provide an endless number of simple questions, and as the student answers these questions the facts are learned and reinforced.
What computers cannot be, with an example
However, in the learning and practice of more complex ideas, the computer is not adequate. A computer can evaluate an answer as right or wrong, but it cannot determine why. It cannot find out why a student is making mistakes, and then re-present important concepts in a different way so the student will understand. It cannot determine at what stage in a mathematics problem the student has made an error, it can only indicate that the final answer is wrong. Tasks involving reasoning cannot be taught by computers, as there are too many variables for a computer to deal with successfully.

Thus, while computers may be useful as a tool for practicing simple skills, they are not an essential feature of modern education, because they cannot monitor a student’s grasp of concepts, nor evaluate a student’s reasoning. Until further developments in computers are made the human teacher will remain indispensable.

It is very clear that lots of changes have taken place in many aspects of people's lives because of the coming of the computer era. Moreover, sending E-mail seems to be the most convenient and efficient way to communicate with families, relatives and best friends. Unfortunately all above will never happen in the life of the layman.
In order to let everyone know about the computer skills, government should set forth solutions to eliminate the number of these kinds of illiterates. First and foremost, it is suggested to open more free related training classes, which can encourage people to cultivate the interesting of using computers. What's more, it is stylish to advertise the benefits to learn the computer.

People’s opinions differ as to whether too much time spent on watching TV and playing computers will negatively influence children's mental development. While I believe this can help exploit children's intelligence in some ways, the consequences of excessive using and watching cannot be ignored.
Though many parents blame the negative effects of watching TV and playing computer games on their children, screen-based technology like computer can build the player's brain the same way as learning to read, playing the piano, or navigating using a map. This is mainly because in many video games, the skills required to win involve following instructions, problem solving, logic thinking, hand-eye combination, fine motor and spatial skills. Also, adequate screen time allows a mass of exposures to visual stimulation, which can cultivate children's visual attention skills and image processing.
However, too much screen time regardless of what children watch or play may undo the gains we have discussed above, even resulting an imbalanced mental development. While children are able to develop their image-related skills, their literacy abilities may deteriorate as a result. This is especially true when we realize that many children who are addicted to screen-based technology are unable to concentrate on their studies if only text information is presented. While reading and writing long essays and journal articles are a core aspect of higher education assessment, the lack of mental focus as a result of computer and TV addiction will negatively influence children's academic performance.
In conclusion, though research into the long-term effects of screen time is still relatively young and we do not yet know exactly what effects playing video games, using computers, or watching TV has on childhood development, too much of anything may be counter-productive.

Computer is widely used in education, and some people think teachers are not playing an important role in the classroom. To what extend do you agree?
Computer, as the most powerful tool in the information age, is widely applied in people’s work, study and daily life. A growing number of people think optimistically that computer will replace teachers in the classroom and play the leading role in study. As far as I am concerned, it will not take the place of teachers now and for good.
One of the main reasons is that computer works pursuant to the prescribed programs. It cannot work creatively and solve the queries from students. Although there is good news about the international chess games between computer and human beings, computer will never win because it is only a product of human intelligence.

A good organizer can activate the atmosphere of study, triggering students’ study interest. In addition, study can only proceed in the circumstance of good order. Otherwise, the classroom will become meaningless.
In brief, computer plays a role in students’ study. But it will never take the place of teachers in the classroom, for computer is a tool after all, which has many disadvantages.

In conclusion, it is not advisable for children to play computer games, for the reasons that it not only has a negative impact on their study, but also makes them lose confidence, although computer games provide a form of relaxation.
