一、謹(jǐn)慎選擇推薦人
一般來(lái)說(shuō)，推薦人要盡量選擇名氣大的推薦人，比如美國(guó)的招生院校就比較看重推薦人和被推薦人之間有過(guò)密切接觸和交流的，你可以選擇學(xué)院的院長(zhǎng)，學(xué)術(shù)研究帶頭人，或者是院士之類(lèi)的名人。
老師的話可以選擇任課老師中資格威望較高的，至于實(shí)習(xí)單位的推薦人可以選擇實(shí)習(xí)期間直接上司。
二、推薦信組成內(nèi)容
1、學(xué)習(xí)觀念和學(xué)習(xí)能力
對(duì)頂尖的名校而言，面對(duì)兩個(gè)A等生，較好的學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)并不能看出學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程和學(xué)習(xí)觀念。
有的學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)效率較低，但是，絕對(duì)勤奮刻苦;有的學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)效率很高，掌握和消化知識(shí)的速度很快，然后騰出更多的時(shí)間去做其他有意義的事情。

2、學(xué)術(shù)好奇心和上進(jìn)心

3、綜合素質(zhì)和發(fā)展空間
在推薦信中要表現(xiàn)出學(xué)生是各方面綜合發(fā)展的，并不是埋首故紙堆、固執(zhí)己見(jiàn)的窮學(xué)究。
錄取官希望從推薦信中尋找到學(xué)生發(fā)展空間的線索，預(yù)想在四年甚至更遙遠(yuǎn)的成長(zhǎng)空間。
三、堅(jiān)守真實(shí)性原則
雖說(shuō)要盡量顯示自己的優(yōu)點(diǎn)，但也不可把自己塑造成“圣人”，要有一定的真實(shí)，即合理寫(xiě)作，體現(xiàn)申請(qǐng)者合理的優(yōu)勢(shì)和特征。
在寫(xiě)作風(fēng)格上也不要全用套話，盡量寫(xiě)一些合理的評(píng)價(jià)語(yǔ)言，可以通過(guò)一個(gè)具體地事例來(lái)體現(xiàn)這些特質(zhì)，并且一定是推薦人和申請(qǐng)者之間的事例。
英國(guó)留學(xué)推薦信書(shū)寫(xiě)禁忌
1. 老師全知道。你做什么事情，參加什么協(xié)會(huì)，選修了什么課，得了什么獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金，老師都“寫(xiě)”在推薦信里了。我想除了導(dǎo)師以外，可能沒(méi)有任何別的老師還能夠這么做。不過(guò)也就是教了你一門(mén)課，然后一門(mén)課幾十個(gè)學(xué)生。鬼才相信老師能夠?qū)资畟€(gè)學(xué)生都了解到擔(dān)任什么職務(wù)，參加什么活動(dòng)，選了別的什么課。
所以寫(xiě)得特別玄的，一律是cheating。
2. 拼命夸獎(jiǎng)。老師再好，也不可能把一個(gè)學(xué)生吹得比自己還要好。然后，就憑在自己教的課里面學(xué)生考了好成績(jī)，說(shuō)“這個(gè)學(xué)生是我看到最好的學(xué)生”--一個(gè)學(xué)生數(shù)分考試成績(jī)好難道就一定能夠做研究么?。這是在侮辱老師的智力。老師怎么能夠僅僅憑考試成績(jī)好擔(dān)保一個(gè)學(xué)生就一定出色呢?
然后，滿篇夸獎(jiǎng)。都是形容詞，就是看不到具體的例子。即使是“例子”，一看也是那種放之四海皆準(zhǔn)，隨便夸誰(shuí)都可以的例子。我打賭，把Miss改成Mr，張三的名字換成李四的名字，那就是推薦李四的推薦信。
所以除了就事論事，說(shuō)學(xué)生這門(mén)課學(xué)得很好，學(xué)生思路很活躍等等之外。除非有具體的例子，別的夸獎(jiǎng)一定有問(wèn)題。
3. 找理由搪塞。“我知道這個(gè)學(xué)生，因?yàn)槲沂撬嘀魅?。我跟她很熟，因?yàn)樗龘?dān)任班級(jí)職務(wù)。...”難道老師“寫(xiě)”一封推薦信，對(duì)于每一點(diǎn)東西都要解釋么?這個(gè)好像下級(jí)向上級(jí)匯報(bào)工作一樣。你認(rèn)為推薦老師和推薦到學(xué)校的老師之間是這種關(guān)系么?
所以，只要事實(shí)陳述，例如“我認(rèn)識(shí)她三年了”，不要理由。凡是拼命解釋怎么認(rèn)識(shí)學(xué)生的，多數(shù)不是老師“寫(xiě)”的。
4.荒唐的邏輯。“一個(gè)學(xué)生坐在第一排，她學(xué)習(xí)就很認(rèn)真。”“一個(gè)學(xué)生認(rèn)真記筆記，她學(xué)習(xí)很好。”看的人可能感到莫名其妙。
