In a bid to convince drivers in Aichi Prefecture to keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road,a new Japanese smartphone app offers free coffee coupons(優(yōu)惠券)to drivers who don’t check their phones for at least 100 km.

For the last 13 years,Aichi Prefecture has recorded the highest rate of death in traffic accidents in Japan.Last year, there were 443,691 accidents that resulted in injuries or deaths, and 50,101 arrests involving the use—of smartphones while driving. With handhelds becoming such a big part of people’s lives, there appears to be an increase in violations of this nature, and authorities have yet to come up with an effective plan to deal with the problem.

Interestingly,a Japanese company seems to think that a creative new app could in some way help drivers to keep themselves from checking their phones at the wheel and reduce the number of traffic accidents.Toyota Motor Corporation,Komeda Coffee and KDDI Corporation of Communication have teamed up to create Driving Barista,an app that uses the phone’s sensor to sense the tilt(傾斜)of the device, and the GPS to determine the distance driven. This allows it to calculate the number of kilometers a driver has traveled with the smartphone facing down.

When Driving Barista determines that the smartphone has not been checked for at least 1 00 kilometers,it will reward the driver with a coupon for a cup of blended or iced coffee at a Komeda Coffee Shop. The reward is earned after every 100 kilometers driven without checking the phone. If you try to change the number before it reaches 100 km,the app will reset back at 0 km.

Toyota claims that this is the first smartphone app that attempts to deal with traffic safety issues.“In line with contributing to the final goal of achieving zero death and zero traffic accidents,Toyota has taken automobile safety measures as one of its top priority management concerns,”said Shuichi Murakami, managing officer at Toyota.“By carrying out a new traffic safety regulations together with Komeda Coffee and KDDI,we hope to further reduce traffic accidents.”

  Passage A

  21. D. 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 根據(jù)“Map Stories”中的信息“…she explains the birth of the most magical places on Earth”可知,正確答案應(yīng)為D項。

  22. C. 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 根據(jù)“Making It up as I Go Along”中的信息“And there is some secret truth about writers, or at least about Keyes.”

  23. A. 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 根據(jù)“Mog and Me and Other Stories”中的信息“For the past 30 years, she’s worked as an author and illustrator of children’s books. Come play with everyone’s favorite family pet, in this bumper board book collection of stories especially for younger readers.”

  Passage B

  24. B 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 第一段“… new poetic expressions … a great poet ...”

  25. A 細(xì)節(jié)理解題 第二段最后一句“Like a Rolling Stone… enlarged the range of popular music.” Bob Dylan1965年錄制的Like a Rolling Stone 擴(kuò)大了流行音樂的范圍。

  Passage C

  Passage D

Joy was the last thing I felt.

I reached the piano and climbed onto the bench可知,作者準(zhǔn)備彈琴,這時候是用手指觸摸著琴鍵。

故選A。

  45. D 根據(jù)上文中的There was no sound可知,作者彈第一個音符的時候,沒有任何聲音。

  47. A 根據(jù)下文中的She hugged me可知,作者的媽媽張開雙臂擁抱作者。 故選A。

How can I play Ode to Joy可知,今天晚上作者本來需要做的事情是鋼琴演奏,但沒有演奏。

The hard part was trying. 故選A。

故選A。

I’m very proud of you和前后句內(nèi)容可知,再一次坐下來彈奏的時候,母親為作者感到驕傲和自豪,因此眼睛里閃耀著驕傲的光芒。

  58. C 根據(jù)設(shè)空處后面的the hall with its sweet sound可知,美妙的音樂充滿了整個大廳。

固定搭配all the way意思是“一路上”,way“路”符合題意。故選A。

W: No problem. Okay, here we go. So, what do you do for a living?

  M: I’m a lawyer, and I’m in town for a job interview, and…

  W: Oops.

M: What do you mean oops? Hey, can I see a mirror?

W: Nothing to worry about, sir. Relax.

M: Ouch. That really hurt! What are you doing anyway? Oh, look at all my hair on the floor. How much are you really cutting off?

W: Relax. Time for the shampoo.

M: Hey, you got shampoo in my eyes! (11) Where’s the towel? Oh, gosh, you cut my hair too short. I want to talk to the manager…now!
