I was sitting in a fast food restaurant with my two children, who at the time were about 6 and 9. Inside there was also a group of teens in Gothic(哥特式的) dress and appearance. Everyone kept away from them inside the restaurant.

Outside the restaurant, people jumped past the homeless man searching the garbage bin, who was looking for food or perhaps a cigarette. I too had rushed past him with my youngsters, refusing his request for money but thinking maybe, just maybe, I would bring him some food. It turned out that I didn't have to.

One girl in the Gothic youth jumped up, went to the counter and ordered more food, which she then took outside to the homeless man and sat on the bench with him, chatting away as he ate. He didn't say much—he was greedy—but I think I saw a bit of a smile and a flash in his eyes as he nodded to her questions.

Writing this now, several years later, I still choke up. That girl was a model citizen living the values of goodness and kindness. These are values I have always held high and hoped to teach my kids. She made my job much easier. We stopped by on our way out and thanked her for setting such a positive example for us. I hope that hearing that has made as much of a difference in her life as seeing what she did has made to ours.

25.Why did people keep away from the teens in the fast food restaurant?

A.Because they were dressed in Gothic dress.

B.Because they were too young to pay their meal.

C.Because they liked to quarrel with others.

  D.Because they killed two children.

26.What did the homeless man want the author to do?

A.To help him get money. B.To bring him some food.

C.To provide him with money. D.To refuse to take care of him.

27.It can be inferred that the homeless man ________.

A.was very greedy in deed B.was very hungry at that time

C.didn't like talking with others much D.didn't answer the girl's questions

28.What can we learn about the author from the passage?

A.The author is also a model citizen like the girl.

B.The author sets a good example for the girl.

C.The author is deeply moved by the girl.

D.The author has sympathy for the girl.

  C

“Smombies”—people walking while staring at their smart phones—are very real and a growing cause for concern. Tired of having to constantly alert both locals and tourists to pay more attention to their surroundings to avoid serious accidents, authorities of a small German town have come up with a more positive solution—embedding(嵌入) traffic lights in the pavement to make them visible to people constantly looking down at their phones.

The seemingly ridiculous safety measure was put in place. Authorities in Augsburg decided to act, installing ground level traffic lights at two tram(有軌電車) stops last Tuesday. The lights flash red every time a tram is approaching, or when the regular traffic light turns red. “We realized that the normal traffic light isn't in the line of sight of many pedestrians these days,” said Tobias Hermes, a city administration official. “So we decided to have an additional set of lights—the more we have, the more people are likely to notice them.”

Some Augsburg residents appear to be quite happy with the idea.“I think it makes sense,” Jack Smith said, speaking to TheAugsburgerAllgemeine. “One always sees young people these days running over red lights. This makes it more obvious that you need to stop.”

Others, however, found the need for ground traffic lights disturbing and even frightening. “I find it scary that smart phone users are so engrossed that they need to install lights in the ground so that they notice the tram coming,” one person told the local paper.

But do this kind of pavementembedded lights actually work? Well, if one interviewed teenager is to be believed, not really. “To be honest I didn't even notice it,” he told TheAugsburgerAllgemeine. “Maybe it'd be useful at night, but yeah, I didn't realize it was there until just now.”

The word “smombie”—a mashup of the words smart phone and zombie—was born in Germany. It was voted “youth word of the year” in 2015, but the serious consequences of this behaviour are no laughing matter.

29.Which of the following about “smombies” is TRUE?

A.It refers to people who are fond of walking.

B.It refers to people who are looking at phones while walking.

C.It refers to people who concern others very much.

D.It refers to people who hate locals and tourists.

30.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “engrossed” in Paragraph 4?

  A.Disturbed. B.Frightened. C.Addicted. D.Encouraged.

31.What may be the best title for the text?

A.Ground traffic lights for people looking at smart phones

B.Effective ways to educate people to obey traffic rules

C.The meanings of ground traffic lights

D.The serious problem of traffic safety

Most people realize that fast food isn't the healthiest or besttasting cuisine(菜肴). It is, however, expected to be fast.

Many chains like McDonald's have struggled with slower food delivery in recent years, because there are more items on the menu. But the world's largest restaurant chain, which serves 68 million customers daily in 119 countries, is trying to change that.

For several months, McDonald's has been testing what's called the “justforyou experience”. In 200 U S restaurants (and more than 2,000 across the globe), customers are able to order directly from a selfserve kiosk(售貨亭), after which an employee brings the meal directly to the table.

McDonald's chief executive Steve Easterbrook, speaking at a McDonald's in New York's Tribeca neighbourhood on Thursday, said the company has long expected customers to adapt to its business model of ordering at the counter and then waiting to collect their own food. Now, he said, “We're adapting our business around customers.”

It showed that “test runs at more than 500 restaurants…showed an increase in foot traffic and contributed to a midsingledigit percentage increase in restaurant sales, lifting the 5 to 6 average check by 1, on average.” Customer satisfaction scores also increased, “because families, in particular, appreciate having their food brought to them.”The company also announced the beginning of a new mobile orderandpay app, which would allow customers to order and pay for food from their smart phones.

Mike, a common customer, said, “As a father of two small children, I'm every fastfood chain's target customer. My wife and I try to avoid McDonald's when possible, but like many parents we end up going. I've used the selfserve kiosks and like them a lot: they're easy to use, reduce the pressure of making a choice with impatient customers behind you, and make a big difference in delivery time. I just hope they don't start expecting me to tip.”

32.Why do many chains have a slower food delivery in the past several years?

A.Because they have struggled many expectations.

B.Because they have more dishes to serve people.

C.Because they have the world's largest restaurant chains.

D.Because sometimes they have too many customers.

33.How do customers get their food after ordering food selfserve kiosks?

A.By testing McDonald's machine. B.By taking food by themselves.

C.By letting waiters bring food for them. D.By letting employees serve for them.

34.What's the result of trying “justforyou experience”?

A.It is a great success. B.It caused traffic jam.

C.It's well received only by app users. D.It still needs to be observed.

35.What can we infer from what Mike said?

A.His family don't like McDonald's. B.He's willing to give tips for good service.

C.Selfserve kiosks are a good choice. D.It's hard for him to spend the delivery time.

How to be a safe and smart searcher

Several keywords will help to find better results. __36__ If you want to find out about seagulls (海鷗), for example, search for “bird seagull” and not just “seagull”, because seagull might also be the name of anything else, from a hotel to a documentary film.

Exact references can help you find what you're looking for. If you are looking for an exact phrase or sentence, e.g. “seagulls are very clever”, type it between inverted commas (“”) and only exact matches will be shown. __37__

Avoid common words like “a” or “the” in a search. These aren't always helpful and are usually unnecessary.

Remove unwanted results by adding a minus symbol (). For example, “Seagullhotelfilm” would leave out all references to hotels and films.

Check your spelling. Make sure that you spell every word in the search box correctly. __38__ That's because sometimes there are mistyped words existing.

Have a filter (篩選程序). It's a good idea to filter your online searchers, especially when you are searching for pictures. Ask an adult to help you add a filtering system. There are lots of filtering software options (可選擇的事物) available.

__39__ Some search engines personalize the results, so check out the option of using a search engine that doesn't do this and you will get different results.

Make sure the reliability. Reliability is very important when you are searching on the Internet. Always ask yourself, “Is this reliable?” Don't make the mistake of believing everything you see. Some websites are unreliable and some information is false. __40__

A.Make sure that you're using the safest search settings.

B.The smallest typing mistakes can bring unwanted results.

C.Check your information on other websites before accepting it.

D.Use more than one keyword when you are doing a search.

E.Experiment with different search engines until you find the one that's best for you.

F.This is useful when you want to find something you've already seen but lost.

G.But finding the right information among thousands of links can be a real challenge.

  (Text 1)

M: The shirt costs 60 dollars. I don't have enough money with me. Could you lend me 30 dollars?

  W: Sure. Here you are.

  (Text 2)

M: Jane, have you finished reading the book?

W: Not yet. I went fishing with Ann this morning. I'll finish reading it this afternoon.

  (Text 3)

M: Why are you laughing so much?

W: Watch this video. Look at these two men's facial expressions. I just can't help laughing.

M: Oh, I've seen those two guys before!

W: They are famous on the Internet now.

  (Text 4)

W: The sun is gone. I'm afraid it looks like it's going to rain.

M: Then I guess we shouldn't go fishing this afternoon.

W: How disappointing! I've been looking forward to this for days.

M: The weather really changes fast this season.

W: Oh, well … Let's just stay at home and watch a movie instead.

  (Text 5)

M: What time did you go to bed last night, Flora?

  W: Around two o'clock.

M: No wonder you look so tired.

W: I usually go to sleep at about 10:00 pm and get up at about 6:00 am but I had to work on a work report last night.

  (Text 6)

M: Hey, Mary. Haven't seen you for a long time. What's up?

W: Not much. What about you?

M: I'm doing pretty well. How is your job in the factory?

W: Oh, I've changed my job. I didn't want to work overtime every day.

M: Oh, did you? What do you do now?

W: I'm working as a secretary in a computer company.

M: That's not bad. How is that?

W: I like the work, and I especially like my colleagues. And the pay is not bad.

W: OK. I'd love to. See you then.

  (Text 7)

W: How did you like your time at your aunt's?

M: I had a great time there. My aunt lives by the sea. So I often went for walks on the beach in the morning. It made me feel so calm.

W: Did you go swimming in the sea?

M: Yes. I usually went swimming at dusk. Some people even went surfing and diving.

W: Did you go surfing, too?

M: No, I think it's too dangerous for me. I just watched them from the beach.

W: I'd love to get the chance to visit the seaside someday.

M: If so, why not go with me to my aunt's next summer?

  W: That sounds great.

  (Text 8)

W: How has school been, dear?

M: Well, yesterday, I had to stay behind after school, because I was talking to my deskmate during my physics class.

W: Oh, dear. You shouldn't be talking during the class.

M: I know, but even if I don't talk, I get into trouble. The day before yesterday, I was very quiet during my history class and I still had to stay behind after class.

  W: Why?

M: Because I fell asleep during the class. The lesson was so boring.

W: You really must take school more seriously. If you don't pass the final exams, you won't get into college.

M: Oh, it doesn't matter. I won't take the exams. I plan to run a small supermarket after graduation. I don't want to stay in school for another four years.

  (Text 9)

W: How did you like your time with Mr Smith's daughter Linda?

M: It was a nightmare. She was so rude.

  W: Rude? How?

M: You won't believe it. When Jenny asked her what she wanted for breakfast, she gave her a rude answer. Then she ate breakfast while the rest of us were still getting ready and didn't leave anything for us.

  W: That was really rude.

M: The worst thing about her was that she was constantly shouting at us when she didn't get her way. I was wondering if she does that to her parents.

W: Oh, yeah. She does that to her parents all the time.

  M: How do you know?

W: I lived with them for about two weeks. After that, I decided never to spend any time with them again.

M: Mr Smith should really spend some time teaching her good manners, or it'll be too late.

W: He and his wife are too busy working. They spend hardly any time with her.

  M: No wonder.

  (Text 10)

W: How are you? Mother's Day is drawing near, and I would like to say “Happy Mother's Day” here. I love you and thank you so much for everything you have done for me. Thank you for providing me with so many years of education and training. I'm very grateful to you for taking care of me.

In my heart are many beautiful memories. I always made you angry, but you were always very understanding. When I was sick, you took care of me in every possible way. When I failed an exam, you encouraged me to cheer up and not to lose heart. You also encouraged me to help others who were in trouble. When I did good deeds, you were always thinking highly of me. I am really thankful to you for your teaching me how to be “a real person”.

Now I have grown up, and I feel that I should not be so simple. I will live up to your expectations! I will work harder and make more progress in my study in order to enter my ideal university. I'm sorry that I stay away and can't give you my appreciation at home. Mum, I am doing very well in my study. My schoolmates and teachers are all very nice, so don't worry about me. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and you are happy every day.

B項(xiàng)的“The smallest typing mistakes…”與下一句的“…there are mistyped words existing.”

根據(jù)下一句的“Some search engines personalize the results…”

上一句的“Some websites are unreliable and some information is false.”與C項(xiàng)的“Check your information on other websites before accepting it.”

  44.A 聯(lián)系上下文,可知此處表示選擇,同時(shí)根據(jù)后面的or可知,此處應(yīng)用whether。故選A。

45.B 根據(jù)本段第一句“As children, our parents had dreams for us.” live out實(shí)現(xiàn)。

故選A。

  62.will be 考查時(shí)態(tài)。下一句的will also be happy說明此空應(yīng)該用一般將來時(shí)。

  64.who/that 考查定語(yǔ)從句引導(dǎo)詞。先行詞是people,關(guān)系代詞在定語(yǔ)從句中作主語(yǔ),因此填who/that。

get out和enjoy是一種并列關(guān)系,因此用連詞and。

  68.to see 考查非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞。allow sb to do sth允許某人做某事。

  71.show→shows 考查主謂一致。該句主語(yǔ)是the old saying,故謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用第三人稱單數(shù),故用shows。

  76.so→because 考查連詞。

  77.me和plan中間加to 考查動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ)。advise sb to do sth表“建議某人做某事”,故在me 和plan中間加to。

  78.She→He 考查代詞。

  79.to→into 考查動(dòng)詞短語(yǔ)。put sth into practice表“將……
