英語口語教程:電影對“教育”的啟發(fā)

　　電影對“教育”的啟發(fā)

　　如果你看過“死亡詩社”，你也許會有這樣一種感覺：電影的設定雖然是在1959年的美國一所重點高中，為什么會與今天的中國的很多高中迷之相似呢?

　　這就要涉及到電影的key word 啦～

　　Conformity

　　先來看看conformity的定義

　　conformity[英][kənˈfɔ:məti][美][kənˈfɔ:rməti]n.符合; 一致; 遵從; 依照; 復數(shù)：conformities

　　[例句]The prime minister is, in conformity with the constitution, chosen by the president.依照憲法，首相由總統(tǒng)選定。

　　也就是說conformity，指的是在1959年的美國，由于二戰(zhàn)之后經(jīng)濟蓬勃的發(fā)展，人民生活變得越來越富裕，人們對物質(zhì)財富的需求越來越高，而對于文化往往采取的是很保守的態(tài)度——人們對于幸福的定義是非常相似的，即工作穩(wěn)定，收入穩(wěn)定，家庭穩(wěn)定。而電影中的welton高中也是以培養(yǎng)這樣的人才為目標。

　　而我們今天中國也常常見到這種現(xiàn)象“一致性”

　　比如在大學課堂上，老師鼓勵大家發(fā)言，但是很多同學都會選擇冷漠臉

　　又比如很多同學都認為找到“穩(wěn)定”的工作，就有美好的未來，而不考慮這份工作是否真的適合自己～

　　這樣的例子真的很多，我們今天每個人多多少少都在追求著conformity～

　　那我們?nèi)绾斡糜⒄Z來表達這個現(xiàn)象呢?

　　1 At Welton, students are trained to obey authorities and internalize whatever knowledge their teachers deem fit to pass on to them.

　　那成功到底是什么呢?

　　其實很多情況下，如果不清楚自己的內(nèi)心，那么成功也僅僅是為了成功而成功，而不是自己的幸福

　　“carpe diem” 這也是電影最有名的一句話，在國外很多人甚至把它當作座右銘，紋身在身上呢～

　　答案很簡單，主動抗拒這種“大眾的成功”，利用好自己的時間，追求自己喜歡的事情～

　　Because life is all-too short, students should make the most of their time on the earth.

　　make the most of their time 最大化的利用好自己的時間

　　6 The best way to make the most of life is to be creative and original—to seize the day—and not simply to repeat one’s parents’ and grandparents’ lives.

　　這句話，我多想說給之前的很多畢業(yè)的學生們聽哇～很多學生畢業(yè)了，仍然對自己未來很迷茫，所以他們常常掛在嘴邊的一句話就是“我媽說，我以后要..."或者“我爸說，我以后要..." 我多么想告訴他們，要聽從自己內(nèi)心的聲音啊。
