　　形容詞最高級(jí)

　　形容詞最高級(jí)前，必須加定冠詞。

　　比如：

　　The Nile isthe longest river in Africa.

　　尼羅河是非洲最長的河。

　　Shanghai is one of the largest cities in the world.

　　上海是世界上最大的城市之一。

　　Jack is the tallest of us three.

　　杰克是我們?nèi)齻€(gè)人中個(gè)子最高的。

　　表示序列

　　序數(shù)詞以及表示序列的形容詞，如last,next等前必須加定冠詞。

　　比如：

　　That day she was the first to climb to the top of the hill.

　　那天她第一個(gè)登上山頂。

　　Ours is a short play. That’s the ninth item.

　　我們的節(jié)目是個(gè)短劇，排在第九個(gè)節(jié)目。

　　The next train for Beijing will leave in an hour.

　　下趟開往北就的火車一小時(shí)以后開。

　　None of them wanted to be the last one to swim to the riverbank.

　　他們中沒有人愿意最后一個(gè)游到岸邊。

　　注意：當(dāng)序數(shù)詞表示名次，在句中用作表語或者狀語時(shí)，一般不用冠詞。

　　比如：

　　Lei Lei and Li Dong are both second in the contest.

　　雷雷和李冬在競賽中并列第二。

　　He came second in the exam.

　　他考試得第二名。

　　當(dāng)序數(shù)詞表示“又一”的意義時(shí)，前面常用的不定冠詞。

　　比如：

　　They dug a hole, then a second, then a third…

　　他們挖了一個(gè)洞，又挖了一個(gè)，再挖了一個(gè)……

　　They all want to learn a second foreign language.

　　他們都想學(xué)第二外語。

　　序數(shù)詞用作副詞時(shí)，前面不用冠詞。

　　比如：

　　I’ll book two tickets first.

　　我將先預(yù)訂兩張票。
