until表示動作、狀態(tài)的持續(xù)，強(qiáng)調(diào)“一直到……為止”，或強(qiáng)調(diào)某個動作或狀態(tài)一直持續(xù)到另一個動作或狀態(tài)出現(xiàn)之前。常與表示延續(xù)性動作的動詞連用。

He banged on the door until she let him in.

She pored over the problem until she solved it.

The letter passed from one to another until everyone had read it.
