rainmaker的字面意思是“能造雨的人”，原指美國印第安人中聲稱能祈神為人們降下甘霖的“喚雨巫師”。20世紀(jì)60年代，該詞用于商業(yè)和政治事務(wù)中，尤指美國議會(huì)里的超級(jí)說客，他們神通廣大，能呼風(fēng)喚雨，操縱著美國的政壇。
