雅思大作文范文:
The private motor vehicle has given us a freedom our ancestors could not dream about. We can travel swiftly, and usually safely, over the roads which have been built toaccommodate our cars. People can display their wealth by driving a car which may cost asmuch as another person's home.—Introduction: advantages of cars (brief)
Sadly the car has become a disadvantage as well as a boom. The car pollutes theatmosphere, may be involved in serious accidents, and by its very numbers blocks roads andchokes cities. How can we reduce its use? —Brief statement of problem: disadvantages of cars
The car is only desirable if we can use it easily, so we might begin by reducing access toparking spaces in the cities and simultaneously increasing the quality and availability ofpublic transport. Cars could be banned form certain parts of the city, thus forcing people towalk or to use public transport. —Ideas for cutting the number of cars
The expense of buying and running a car can be raised. If the motorist is faced with a highpurchase price, high road tax, high insurance premiums and substantial fines he or she mayreconsider the purchase. A corresponding reduction in the price of public transport wouldhelp this financial argument against car ownership.
Neither of these arguments will sway the super rich who can afford the status cars, but itwould perhaps encourage them to look at other ways of demonstrating their wealth. Howeverwe do it, reducing the number of cars on the road will reduce the problems of pollution and thecongestion which can bring cities to a standstill.—Conclusions: states the benefits of reducingthe number of cars
Remember: this sample answer is one of several satisfactory ways to answer the question.Other essays which respond to the writing task would also be acceptable.

雅思大作文范文:航空旅行是否該被限制?
Air travel, once a privilege of the wealthy, hasbeen gaining popularity worldwide over the last fewdecades. The number of people traveling by air hasbeen growing by leaps and bounds. Someenvironmentalists, however, propose that air travelbe limited, on the ground that it may give rise to aseries of problems, including pollution andexhaustion of the world’s valuable energyresources. To my mind, it does not make muchsense to restrict air travel.
The most important and obvious reason is that no other vehicle can travel as fast as anairplane. In other words, air travel may be the only and easiest option when it comes to long-distance trips. For example, if a student from China wishes to go to the United States forfurther studies, the only means of transportation that could send him to the destination isundoubtedly the plane. Also, for people traveling on a regular basis, such as those engaged intransnational business, air travel would mean less time on the road. This will certainly enablethem to better prepare for their future tasks, such as business negotiations, both mentally andphysically.
In addition, air travel offers the comfort that cannot be found elsewhere. Most people, who have the experience of traveling by air, are bound to miss the snacks and drinks served onboard, as well as the smiles on the faces of flight attendants. In some cases, you could evenenjoy a favorite movie while on a plane, completely unaware that you are hundreds ofthousands of feet above ground.
Last but not least, it is important to bear in mind that air travel is simply a personal choiceand should be respected. This clearly means that any attempt to restrict air travel would beseen as a violation of human rights and is both groundless and unjustified.
In summary, despite the various problems arising from air travel, it should not be limitedor eliminated. What we should do is to give full play to the function of air travel, by maximizingits benefits while trying to come up with practical solutions to the existing problems, such asdeveloping fuel-efficient airplanes and alternative energy resources.
雅思大作文范文:私家車的利與弊
With the fantastic spur both in industry and ineconomy in China, the number of people who ownprivate cars is on the rise. Some people have boughtcars of their own, and others are planning to buycars. But there have been two quite different viewson this phenomenon.
Some claim that there are many advantagesbrought about by cars. First, the automobileindustry provides jobs for countless workers andstrong support for other industries. Second, ifconditions permit, owning a car can make us work more efficiently. Finally, life will becomemore convenient. A car allows one to move freely and with a car there is no need to wait forthe bus in the cold or under the burning sun.
However, others strongly object to the increase in developing private cars. They hold thatautomobiles will give rise to a series of problems. In the first place, as more and more cars areproduced and run in the street, a large volume of poisonous gas will be given off, polluting theatmosphere and causing actual harm to the health of people. Next, private cars contribute totraffic congestion so greatly that the advantages gained in comfort and freedom are oftencancelled out by the frustration caused by traffic jams. The last problem is the increasingnumber of car accidents that have killed and will kill a lot of people in a friction of a second.
In my opinion, although automobiles have been playing a vital part in the daily activities ofour society, they also bring us numerous troubles such as more serious environmentalpollution, more traffic accidents and more energy consumption. They drink up huge amountsof fuel and throw out huge amounts of pollutants. Traffic accidents kill thousands andthousands of people each year and cripple more. Jams waste our precious time. Therefore I amagainst developing private cars.
