  得與失英語演講稿:Lost and found

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! It’s my great honor to give a speech here.Today I want to talk about lost and found. A majority of us may feel that it is more difficult to find something we lost in our spirit world than the real things in our daily life. I myself had a hard time before.

There was a time when I lost myself in chatting with strangers online.I am fond of making the virtual experience to catch their eyes, so that we can talk more.Certainly, I realize that these are all meaningless now.But at that time,I was addicted to it extraordinarily.

Because of chatting,I was doing my homework roughly; Because of chatting,I was easily absent-minded in class; Because of chatting, I was becoming bad.Dreadful, I didn’t realize how terrible I was! Soon, the examination was coming, but I still fell into the joy of chatting with people. What’s more,I was convinced that I could do well in it in this time as well. However, the low marks struck into my heart heavily.I started to rethink that whether I immersed

myself in chatting is good or not.Fortunately, after a period of time, I figured it out.Wasting time on chatting with strangers is doing harm to me.(總覺得不好) In addition,if I preserved the bad habit(?),it would have led me to be depraved(?).Moreover,my life would have been ruined by myself! What a tragedy ending! So I set my smartphone aside in order to concentrate in my study. It took me a long time to make me back. Now,I have brought my life back on track.

This unforgettable experience still lingers in my mind. Luckily,I lost myself in chatting but I found it at last. Nevertheless, how many people lost themselves in some temptations but have not found it yet?I intend to give all of you a piece of advice:You mustn’t lose your head in the face of temptation!

As the proverb goes that(這算諺語嗎?):“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness.”It is the same as the youth. Please make sure that yours is the former one,not the latter one. At last, I hope the lost man can find himself soon.(結(jié)尾感覺亂七八糟) That’s all. Thank you!

得與失英語演講稿:Bidding for Olympics: Gain or Lost?

Bidding for and hosting the Olympics uccessfully is, perhaps, the ultimate glory for a city. However, before transforming the dream into reality, the benefits and drawbacks of bidding for the Olympics should be weighed carefully.

Hosting the Olympics surely would bring about much gain to a city. Boom of the local economy, more jobs, and the possibility of generating income all sound extremely attractive to the municipal government. At the same time, better infrastructure, cleaner environment, enjoying the spectacular game with hundreds of sports elites and entertainment stars, and the opportunity of contacting people from all over the world also seem exciting to the citizens. Besides, the bidding will definitely promote the patriotic emotion and pride, as well as the moral behavior in local people. In most cases, bidding for the Olympics is well supported by both the public and the central government.

Unfortunately, this is not the entire view of the pretty picture. If looking from another angle, the Olympic bid might bring about some side-effects to a city.

First of all, the environmental impacts, including the increasing exhaust fumes of cars, more pressure on water resources, huge amount of wasted leaflets and other materials used for public activities, are most probably neglected. In order to broaden the streets, some trees may have to be cut. Near the construction site, the tiny dust may linger in the air for a long time. Reduction of farmland may be caused by the need of setting up new sports centre or accommodation facilities. These environmental consequences can be especially serious in a resource-limited and densely-populated city in a third-world country.

Besides, if talking about the economic benefit, it should not be forgotten that a quick boosting may lead to bubble growth, which may easily crash. If not well managed and organized, the big event may not be so ofitable, and the new facilities may be forever empty after the games. Yes, there have been cases that host cities ended up with enormous debts.

Finally, let’s think about the low-income groups in the city. What will they get from the Olympics bidding? More tax, more fees, more expensive property prices, and higher cost of living. These definitely are not good news for them. To bid or not to, this is a question. It is up to the choice of the municipal government, and the local public. After the decision, what they can do is to make the most of the benefit, and reduce the drawbacks to the least.

  得與失英語演講稿:Lost And Found

Memory is a special ability of human- beings. Sometimes, it brings us into sadness, sometimes, it makes us feel happy. Marvelous memories can always help us to appreciate and enjoy our lives, especially when we fail in doing something or lost something.

I like storing marvelous memories, just like storing beautiful flowers which are blooming on the road of my life.

Here, I want share one of these flowers with you.

Last term, I lost a mobile phone, a purse (include some money and important cards) in the classroom, all the things worth about 1500 Yuan. For me, that’s really a huge lost!

I was so sad, I tried my best to find them, but that doesn’t work. I didn’t know what I should do; I didn’t know whom I should turn for help. At that time, my classmates helped me, just like gave me an umbrella in the rain. From then on, I found many things, not the things I lost, but the kindness and friendliness of my dear classmates!

Someone leaded me to the safeguard of our school; someone lent their mobile phones to me and helped me to get in touch with the thief. At last, I dialed 110 and went to the Police Station with my classmates.

Maybe, I could never find the things I lost, but I found the things more valuable to me. I felt the warmth of friendship when you treat me in the refectory.

I was moved by the concern and comfort my friends gave me. I still remembered it clearly that all of them gathered at my dorm, listening to my conversation with the doubtful person and gave me some advice; I still remembered the words you told me: “Don’t be too nervous, we are your arms and shoulders, everything will go well”.

  How kindly they are!

I think, I can overcome all the hard time with friends’ sustain, I can overcome all the difficulties in my life when I think about them.

Marvelous memories are short and written in water, only when we pay special attention to our lives can we catch it.

  Store marvelous memories,

  Enjoy marvelous life;

  Get marvelous success!
