Smoking is harmful to your health
We meet smokers everywhere: in the streets, on college campuses and in shops. The bad habit has seemly been a common social hobby for male or female since the beginning of the 20th century. There are about 1.2 billion smokers among the 6 billion people in the world. In some country the ratio may be higher. According to the research, in 2002, there were 71.5 million smokers, which made up 30 percent of the American population. This figure includes 3.8 million young people aged from 12 to 17 and 14 million from 18 to 25. What is worse is that about 3 million people die of the relevant disease derived from smoking every year all over the world. If you smoke a lot,you will be unhealthy. Many people smoke too much every day, they become thinner.Cigarettes are made of Poppy(罌粟)。Although this is a kind of beautiful flowers,it is toxic(有毒) flowers.Either you smoke a lot every day or smoke fewer.I suggest you don't smoke more cigarettes, because it is good for your health.
No Smoking in All Public Places
Some businesses now say that no one can smoke cigarettes in any of their offices. Some governments have banned smoking in all public places. This is a good idea though it takes away some of our freedom.
As we know, smoking is harmful not only to our health but also to the environment. Smoking can lead to many diseases, such as lung cancer. Smoking affects non-smokers more than it does smokers. Ratio of passive smokers getting ill is higher than that of smokers. So, many nonsmokers are against smoking.
In public places, the harm of smoking is greater. This is connected with another effect of smoking. That is, smoking pollutes environment by giving much poisonous vapour off into the air.
Therefore, that the government ban smoking is very necessary and important to us. It is a measure to protect our health and environment. So many people, especially nonsmokers are Ior tile policy.
Some people say that it takes away some of our freedom. I think it is a one-sided view. If one wants to smoke, he may smoke in private, not in the public places. In fact, smokers still have the freedom of smoking.
But, I think, smokers had better give up smoking, not only in private places, but also in the public places, everywhere. It will be beneficial to all of us.
Smoking is harrnful to health. Medical science has now proved that smoking cancause lung cancer and other diseases such as emphysema. Your chances of having a heartattack also increase the more you smoke. Smoking is dafinitely a health hazard.
Getting rid of the smoking habit is not easy. Many inveterate smokers are never able to quit completely. Those who try to quit often experience depression, severe headaches, and sometimes get a lot of weight as they turn to food as a substitute.
In order to protect non-smokers from being affected, measures must be taken to reduce the chances of smoking. Children must be warned about the dangers of smoking. Cigarette companies should not be allowed to advertise on TV or radio, or in newspapers and magazines. Remove cigarette vending machines. Raise cigarette prices by adding higher tobacco taxes and use the money for antismoking campaigns.
