The eyes happy prince was filled with tears, and tears were running down his golden cheeks. His face was so beautiful in the moonlight, that the little swallow was filled with pity.
快樂(lè)王子的雙眼充滿了淚水，淚珠順著他金黃的臉頰淌了下來(lái)。王子的臉在月光下美麗無(wú)比，小燕子頓生憐憫之心。
Who are you ? he said.
你是誰(shuí)?他問(wèn)對(duì)方。
I am the happy prince.
我是快樂(lè)王子。
Why are you weeping then? asked swallow. You have quite drench to me .
那么你為什么哭呢?燕子又問(wèn)，你把我的身上都打濕了。
When I was alive , and I had a human heart, answered the statue, I did not know what the tears were for I lived in the palace of sans souci where sorrow is not allowed to enter. In the daytime, I played with my companions in the garden, and in the evening ,I let the bans in the great hall. Round the garden, when the vary lot of war, but I never care to ask what they beyond it, everything about me was so beautiful. My cottiers called me the happy prince, the happy indeed I was, if pleasure be happiness. So i lived and so I died. And now ,that I am dead, they have setting me up here so high, but I can see all the upness, and all the misery of my city. even though, my heart is made of lead , but I can not choose but weep.
以前在我有顆人心而活著的時(shí)候，雕像開(kāi)口說(shuō)道，我并不知道眼淚是什么東西，因?yàn)槟菚r(shí)我住在逍遙自在的王宮里，那是個(gè)哀愁無(wú)法進(jìn)去的地方。白天人們伴著我在花園里玩，晚上我在大廳里領(lǐng)頭跳舞。沿著花園有一堵高高的圍墻，可我從沒(méi)想到去圍墻那邊有什么東西，我身邊的一切太美好了。我的臣仆們都叫我快樂(lè)王子，的確，如果歡愉就是快樂(lè)的話，那我真是快樂(lè)無(wú)比。我就這么活著，也這么死去。而眼下我死了，他們把我這么高高地立在這兒，使我能看見(jiàn)自己城市中所有的丑惡和貧苦，盡管我的心是鉛做的，可我還是忍不住要哭。

The next day the Swallow flew down to the harbour. He sat on the mast of a large vessel and watched the sailors hauling big chests out of the hold with ropes. "Heave a hoy!" they shouted as each chest came up. "I am going to Egypt!" cried the Swallow, but nobody minded, and when the moon rose he flew back to the Happy Prince.
第二天，燕子飛到下面的海港。他停落在一條大船的桅桿上，望著水手們用繩索把大箱子拉出船艙。伴著他們“嘿喲!嘿喲!”的號(hào)子聲，大箱子也一個(gè)個(gè)被拉了上來(lái)。“ 我準(zhǔn)備去埃及了!”燕子喊道，可是沒(méi)有人在意他。當(dāng)月亮升起后，他便飛回到快樂(lè)王子的身邊。
I am come to bid you good-bye," he cried.
我是來(lái)和你道別的，”他叫著說(shuō)。
Swallow, Swallow, little Swallow," said the Prince, "will you not stay with me one night longer?"
燕子，燕子，小燕子，”王子說(shuō)，“你不能再陪我一晚嗎?”
It is winter," answered the Swallow, "and the chill snow will soon be here. In Egypt the sun is warm on the green palm-trees, and the crocodiles lie in the mud and look lazily about them. My companions are building a nest in the Temple of Baalbec, and the pink and white doves are watching them, and cooing to each other."
冬天來(lái)了，”燕子答道，“這兒不久就要被冰雪覆蓋。而在埃及，溫暖的陽(yáng)光照在翠綠的棕櫚樹(shù)上，鱷魚(yú)們躺在泥沼中，懶洋洋地環(huán)視著周圍。我的伙伴們正在巴爾貝克古城的神廟里筑巢，那些粉紅和白色的鴿子們一邊望著他們勞動(dòng)，一邊咕咕地互訴衷情。
Dear Prince, I must leave you, but I will never forget you, and next spring I will bring you back two beautiful jewels in place of those you have given away. The ruby shall be redder than a rose, and the sapphire shall be as blue as the great sea."
親愛(ài)的王子，我必須離開(kāi)你了，但我永遠(yuǎn)都不會(huì)忘記你的，明年春天我會(huì)帶兩顆美麗的寶石給你，彌補(bǔ)你失掉的那幾顆，紅寶石會(huì)比紅玫瑰更嬌艷，藍(lán)寶石會(huì)和碧海一樣湛藍(lán)。
