　　兒童英語(yǔ)小短文：蝙蝠和鼠狼

　　THE BAT AND THE WEASELSA

　　Bat falling upon the ground was caught by a Weasel, ofwhom he earnestly besought his life. The Weasel refused,saying, that he was by nature the enemy of all birds. TheBat assured him that he was not a bird, but a mouse, andthus saved his life。

　　蝙蝠和鼠狼

　　一只蝙蝠墜落到地面上來(lái)，被一只鼠狼捉住了，蝙蝠哀求討?zhàn)垺Ｊ罄遣淮饝?yīng)，說(shuō)它自己最愛(ài)和鳥(niǎo)類為敵。蝙蝠便證明它自己不是鳥(niǎo)，只是一只老鼠，因此鼠狼就放了它。

　　Shortly afterwards the Bat again fellon the ground, and was carght by another Weasel, whom helikewise entreated not to eat him. The Weasel said that hehad a special hostility to mice. The Bat assured him thathe was not a mouse, but a bat; and thus a second timeescaped.It is wise to turn circumstances to good account。

　　不久這只蝙蝠又墜落到地上來(lái)，被另一只鼠狼捉住，它同樣地哀求討?zhàn)垺Ｄ鞘罄钦f(shuō)它自己最恨老鼠，蝙蝠證明自己并不是老鼠，而是一只蝙蝠;因此，它第二次又安然地逃離危險(xiǎn)了。隨機(jī)應(yīng)變乃聰明之舉。

　　There Good Friends

　　One day, a monkey rides his bike near the river. This time he sees a lion under a tree. The lion runs at him. He is afraid and falls into the river. He can’t swim. He shouts. The rabbit hears him. He jumps into the river. The rabbit swims to the monkey, but he can’t help him. Luckily, an elephant comes along. He is very strong. He helps the rabbit and monkey. Three friends are very happy. They go to the elephant’s home. Then, three of them become good friends。

　　三個(gè)好朋友

　　一天，一只猴子在河邊騎車。這時(shí)他看見(jiàn)樹(shù)下有一只獅子，獅子向他跑來(lái)。他非常的害怕，掉進(jìn)河里。他不會(huì)游泳，大叫起來(lái)。兔子聽(tīng)見(jiàn)了，跳進(jìn)水里，但他卻沒(méi)有辦法救猴子。幸運(yùn)的是，一只大象過(guò)來(lái)了。大象非常強(qiáng)壯，救出了兔子和猴子。他們來(lái)到大象的家，在那里吃了一頓大餐。從此他們成了好朋友。

　　THE FATHER AND HIS SONSA

　　Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarrelling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They each tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it。

　　一位父親有幾個(gè)孩子，這些孩子時(shí)常發(fā)生口角。他絲毫沒(méi)有辦法來(lái)勸阻他們，只好讓他們看看不合群所帶來(lái)害處的例子。為了達(dá)到這個(gè)目的，有一天他叫他們替他拿一捆細(xì)柴來(lái)。當(dāng)他們把柴帶來(lái)時(shí)，他便先后地將那捆柴放在每一個(gè)孩子的手中，吩咐他們弄斷這捆柴。他們一個(gè)個(gè)盡力去試，總是不能成功。

　　He next unclosed the faggot, and took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into their hands, on which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks."

　　Ass having heard some Grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchanted; and, desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on, to give them such beautiful voices. They replied, "The dew." The Ass resolved that he would only live upon dew, and in a short time died of hunger。

　　"No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother′s milk is both food and drink to me." On which the Wolf seized him, and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won′t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations."The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny。

　　小羊回答說(shuō)：“不，好先生，我還未曾嘗過(guò)草的味道呢。”狼又說(shuō)：“你喝過(guò)我井里的水。”小羊叫道：“不，我從沒(méi)有喝過(guò)水，因?yàn)橹钡浇裉鞛橹?，我都是吃著母親的奶汁。”狼一聽(tīng)這話，便抓住它，把它吃下去，便說(shuō)：“好!即使你駁倒我每一句話，我終究要吃晚餐的!”暴君總有他暴行的借口。

　　THE LION AND THE MOUSE

　　Lion was awakened from sleep by a Mouse running over his face. Rising up in anger, he caught him and was about to kill him, when the Mouse piteously entreated, saying: "If you would only spare my life, I would be sure to repay your kindness." The Lion laughed and let him go。

　　獅和鼠

　　一只老鼠從一只獅子面前跑過(guò)去，將它從夢(mèng)中吵醒。獅子生氣地跳起來(lái)，捉住老鼠，要弄死它。老鼠哀求說(shuō)：“只要你肯饒恕我這條小生命，我將來(lái)一定會(huì)報(bào)答你的大恩。”獅子便笑著放了它。

　　It happened shortly after this that the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him by strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing his roar, came up, and gnawed the rope with his teeth, and setting him free, exclaimed: "You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, not expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favour; but now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to confer benefits on a Lion."

　　后來(lái)獅子被幾個(gè)獵人捉住，用粗繩捆綁倒在地上。老鼠聽(tīng)出是獅子的吼聲，走來(lái)用牙齒咬斷繩索，釋放了牠，并大聲說(shuō)：“你當(dāng)時(shí)嘲笑我想幫你的忙，而且也不指望我有什么機(jī)會(huì)報(bào)答。但是你現(xiàn)在知道了，就算是小老鼠，也能向獅子效勞的。”

　　There is a child in front of city wall to catch the grasshopper, and in a short while caught the lots of.Suddenly see a scorpion son, he to think is also grasshopper,

　　Then two go to catch him.The scorpion son raises his poison to stab, say:" come, if you really dare to do like this, connect your grasshopper that catch to also would entirely lose."

　　This story warns people, and want to distinguish the pure good man with the bad person, and distinct to treat them。

　　小男孩與蝎子

　　有個(gè)小孩在城墻前捉蚱蜢，一會(huì)兒就捉了許多。忽然看見(jiàn)一只蝎子，他以為也是蚱蜢，

　　便著兩手去捕捉他。蝎子舉起他的毒刺，說(shuō)道：“來(lái)吧，如果你真敢這樣做，就連你捉的蚱蜢也會(huì)統(tǒng)統(tǒng)失掉。”

　　這故事告誡人們，要分辨清好人和壞人，區(qū)別對(duì)待他們。
