A box full of kisses裝滿吻的盒子
The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy.”
有這樣一個(gè)故事，爸爸因?yàn)槿龤q的女兒浪費(fèi)了一卷金色的包裝紙而懲罰了她。家里很缺錢，當(dāng)孩子想要用包裝紙裝飾一個(gè)掛在圣誕樹上的盒子時(shí)，爸爸生氣了。然而，第二天早上小女孩把盒子作為禮物送給了爸爸，“這是給你的，爸爸。”
The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."
女兒的這個(gè)行為讓爸爸感到尷尬。但是當(dāng)他發(fā)現(xiàn)盒子是空的時(shí)候，他的怒火再一次燃燒了。他對(duì)女兒喊道，“難道你不知道給別人禮物的時(shí)候，里面應(yīng)該放有東西嗎?”多女孩抬頭看著父親，眼里含著淚水，“爸爸，盒子不是空的。我把吻放在了盒子里，都是給你的，爸爸。”
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness. Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
爸爸感動(dòng)極了，他摟住女兒，懇請(qǐng)她的原諒。之后不久，一場(chǎng)事故奪走了小女孩的生命。據(jù)說，父親便將那個(gè)小金盒子放在床頭，一直陪伴著他的余生。無論何時(shí)他感到氣餒或者遇到難辦的事情，他就會(huì)打開禮盒，取出一個(gè)假想的吻，記起漂亮女兒給予了自己特殊的愛。
In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.
從一個(gè)非常真實(shí)的意義上說，我們每個(gè)人都被贈(zèng)與過一個(gè)無形的金色禮盒，那里面裝滿了來自子女，家人，朋友及上帝無條件的愛與吻。人們所能擁有的最珍貴的禮物莫過于此了。
0n Christmas Eve圣誕之夜
A friend of mine named Paul received an automobile from his brother as Christmas present. On Christmas eve, when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shining new car, admiring it.
我有個(gè)朋友，保羅，在圣誕節(jié)那天收到了一份來自他哥哥的禮物，一輛轎車。在圣誕前夜，當(dāng)保羅從他的辦公室走出來時(shí)，一個(gè)街頭頑童正圍著他的新車打轉(zhuǎn)地看，非常羨慕。
Is this your car, Mister? he said.
“這是您的汽車嗎，先生?”他說。
Paul nodded, "My brother gave it to me for Christmas."
保羅點(diǎn)了點(diǎn)頭，“我哥哥給我的圣誕禮物。
The boy was astounded, "You mean your brother gave it to you, and didn't cost you anything?"
小男孩詫異了，“你是說你哥哥給你的，不用花你一分錢?”
Boy, I wish... he hesitated.
“兄弟，我希望...”他遲疑了。
Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paull all the way down his heels.
保羅當(dāng)然清楚他希望什么，他希望他也有個(gè)那樣的哥哥。但這個(gè)小家伙說的話，使保羅大吃了一驚。
I wish, the boy went on, "that I could be a brother like that."
“我希望，”小男孩繼續(xù)說道，“我可以做一個(gè)那樣的哥哥。”
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then inpulsivly he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my car?"
保羅驚奇地看著小男孩，然后激動(dòng)地說了句，“你想不想做我的車去兜兜風(fēng)?”
Oh, yes. I'd love that.
“哦，想!我喜歡!”
After a short ride, the boy turned his eyes aglow, said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?"
跑了一小段路后，小男孩眼光水靈閃閃地說道，“先生，您可以把車開到我家門前嗎?”
Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbours that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again.
保羅微微一笑。他覺得他知道這個(gè)小家伙想要干什么，他想要向他的鄰居炫耀他可以坐一輛大汽車回家。但是，保羅又一次想錯(cuò)了。
Would you stop at those with two steps? the boy asked.
“您可以在那有兩個(gè)臺(tái)階的房子前停下嗎?” 小男孩問道。
He ran up stairs. Then in a little while, Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He set him down on the bottom step. Then a sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
他跑著上樓去了。然后一小會(huì)兒，保羅聽到他回來的腳步聲，但他沒再用跑的了。保羅看見他正攙扶著他的跛腳的弟弟，他扶著他坐在最底層的臺(tái)階上，然后擁抱著他，指著這部車。
There she is, buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for Christmas and didn't cost him a cent. And some day, I'm gonna give you one just like it. Then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the chirstmas windows that I was trying to tell you about.
“小弟，那就是我在樓上跟你說的那部車。他哥哥給他的圣誕禮物，不用花他一分錢。將來某天我也要給你一部像那樣的車，那樣你就可以自己去看我以前盡力想讓你知道的那些窗邊的圣誕飾品了。”
Paul got off and lifted the lad into the front of his car. The shinning eyed old brother crimbed in beside him. And three of them began a memorable holiday ride.
保羅下車把跛腳的小孩抱上了車的前座，他的眼睛水靈靈的哥哥爬上了車，坐到了他旁邊。然后他們?nèi)齻€(gè)開始一段令人難忘的旅程。
That Christmas eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant, when he said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive..."

Not a simple dress不凡的連衣裙
“Do you like my dress?"she asked of a passing stranger."
你喜歡我的連衣裙嗎?“她問一位正走過她身邊的陌生人。”
My mommy made it just for me.She said with a tear in her eyes.
我媽媽專給我做的。”她說道，眼里冒出了淚珠。
Well,I think it's very pretty,so tell me little one,why are you crying?
“嗯，我認(rèn)為你的裙子真漂亮。告訴我，小姑娘，你為什么哭呢?”
With a quiver in her voice the little girl answered."After Mommy made me this dress,she had to go away."
小姑娘聲音有些顫抖，回答道：“我媽媽給我做完這條裙子后就不得不離開了。”
Well,now,said the lady,"with a little girl like you waiting for her,I'm sure she'll be right back."
“哦，是這樣，”陌生的女士說，“有你這樣一個(gè)小姑娘等著她，我敢肯定她很快就會(huì)回來的。”
No Ma'am ,you don't understand,said the child through her tears,"my daddy said she's up in heaven now with Grandfather."
“不，女士，您不明白，”女孩透過淚水說，“我爸說她現(xiàn)在和我爺爺在天堂里。”
Finally the woman realized what the child meant,and why she was crying.Kneeling down she gently cradled the child in her arms and together they cried for the mommy that was gone.
女士終于明白孩子的意思了，也明白她為什么哭泣。她跪下，溫柔地把女孩摟在懷里，她們一起為離去的媽媽哭泣。
Then suddenly the little girl did something that the woman thought was a bit strange.She stopped crying,stepped back from the woman and began to sing.She sang so softly that it was almost a whisper. It was the sweetest sound the woman had ever heard,almost like the song of a very small bird.
忽然小姑娘又做了件讓女士感到有點(diǎn)奇怪的事。她停住了哭泣，從女士懷抱中抽出身，向后退了一步，然后開始唱歌。她唱得如此輕柔，幾乎像章晨低語。這是女士聽到過的最甜美的聲音，簡直就像一只非常小的小鳥在吟唱。
After the child stopped singing she explained to the lady,"My mommy used to sing that song to me before she went away,and she made me promise to sing it whenever I started crying and it would make me stop."
小女孩唱完后解釋說：“媽媽離去前經(jīng)常給我唱這支歌，她讓我答應(yīng)她我一哭就唱這支歌，這樣我就不哭了。”
See,she exclaimed,"it did,and now my eyes are dry!"
“您瞧，”她驚叫道，“真管用，現(xiàn)在我的眼睛里沒有眼淚了!”
As the woman turned to go,the little girl grabbed her sleeve,"Ma'am,can you stay just a minute?I want to show you something."
女士轉(zhuǎn)身要走時(shí)，小女孩抓住她的衣袖：“女士，您能再停留一小會(huì)兒嗎?我想給您看點(diǎn)東西。”
Of course,she answered,"what do you want me to see?"
“當(dāng)然可以，”她回答，“你想要我看什么呢?”
Pointing to a spot on her dress,she said,"Right here is where my mommy kissed my dress,and here,"pointing to another spot,"and here is another kiss, and here,and here.Mommy said that she put all those kisses on my dress so that I would have her kisses for every booboo'that made me cry."
小女孩指著裙子上的一處，說：“就在這里，我媽媽親了我的裙子，還有這里，”她指著另外一處，“這里有另外一個(gè)吻，還有這里，這里。媽媽說她把所有這些吻都留在我的連衣裙上，這樣我遇到什么事哭了，就會(huì)有她的親吻。”
Then the lady realized that she wasn't just looking at a dress,no,she was looking at a mother…who knew that she was going away and would not be there to kiss away the hurts that she knew her daughter would get.
這時(shí)，女士意識(shí)到在她眼前的不是一件連衣裙，不是的，她在凝視一位母親……這位母親知道她將離去，無法隨時(shí)守候在女兒身邊，吻去她知道女兒必然會(huì)遇到的種種傷心事。
So she took all the love she had for her beautiful little girl and put them into this dress,which her child now so proudly wore.
所以她將所有對(duì)她美麗女兒的愛傾注在這件連衣裙上?，F(xiàn)在，女兒如此驕傲地穿在身上。
She no longer saw a little girl in a simple dress. She saw a child wrapped…in her mother's love.
她看到的不再是身穿一件簡單的連衣裙的小女孩。她看到的是一個(gè)……被媽媽的愛裹著的孩子。
