　　文中的“depression”就是“抑郁癥”的意思，如：post-natal depression 產(chǎn)后抑郁癥，clinical depression 臨床抑郁癥。“depression”這個詞還可以指“蕭條”，如：the Great Depression是指經(jīng)濟大蕭條。另外，“melancholia”是“抑郁癥”的較為正式的說法。抑郁癥的表現(xiàn)包括悲傷(sad)、 憂慮(anxious)、空虛(empty)、無望(hopeless)、無助( helpless)、失去意義(worthless)、內(nèi)疚(guilty)、易怒(irritable)或者不安(restless)，嚴重的還包括失眠(insomnia)甚至試圖自殺(suicide)等。
